1. Is there any Job Guarantee?

Let us talk about the possibility of getting a job. The jobs in the market are governed by demand-supply gap. If there is more demand than the supply, jobs are available quickly, where as if the supply is more than the demand obviously, more time is required to get placed.

At the moment lot of work is being outsourced to India and there is less number of trained SAS® programmers. Hence EVERY WELL TRAINED SAS® PROGRAMMER GETS PLACED.

As a student, one has to make sure to put in the best to learn and derive advantages of CliPLab training.

2. Which all cities are you located in?

We are having training facilities in Pune, Hyderabad and Bangalore. We are planning to expand to other metro cities in India in 2013-14

3. Which sectors will I get placed in?

There are opportunities in Pharmaceutical companies, CROs (Contract research organizations) and ITES companies (Information technology enabled services)

5. How many interns has Cytel recruited?

In last two of years Cytel has recruited 25 CliPLab Interns. (As on Dec 2012)

6. What will be my exact Job title?

SAS® Programmer (Clinical), Statistical Programmer

8. Do I need to know programming of any Computer Language?

No. You are not required to know coding of any computer language in order to be a SAS® programmer

9. Career opportunities in Life sciences/pharma/clinical research?

Since Life Science/Pharmacy/Clinical Research graduates learn all subjects related to life science & clinical domain, they are the perfect candidates to be successful SAS® programmers. At the moment SAS® programming is considered to be a much more rewarding career for the Life Science/pharmacy/clinical research graduates, compared to the traditional jobs available in market like manufacturing, production, QA, QC etc.

10. Why companies don’t recruit SAS® freshers?

You will agree with us that no company would like to spend more time in training the employees, on the basic skills. Because of the pressure on deliverables and the time lines, every employer wants new joiner’s to be productive from day 1 of their recruitment. Hence ClipLab trained students with 4 months experience are preferred over the fresher’s.

11. Is it necessary to do SAS® certification?

Yes certification is useful. In order to get job ready, certification has to be complemented with project experience or internship

12. What is the advantage of taking training and internship from CliPLab over the SAS® authorized & unauthorized institute?

CliPLab is a training initiative of Cytel which is well known in the field of Biostatistics and Analytics since 1987. Hence there are obvious advantages available for CliPLab students like In house recruitment at Cytel, Licensed software, live support of highly experienced SAS® programmers, Statisticians, Course modules and assignments developed based on real life scenarios

13. What range of salary will I get as a fresher?

The salaries are in the range of 2.8 to 3.5 lakhs per annum along with attractive growth path.

14. Do pharmacy/life science graduates face problem in learning SAS®, because of non-technical background?

In fact they do better in SAS® because of their Clinical Domain knowledge.

15. People from which domain are considered a better fit in SAS®?

In Clinical SAS® students with life science background and as well as good analytical skills are preferred

16. Is SAS® a good career option for Eng. Grads?

YES. Engineering graduates often have good analytical and problem solving skills. They will need to update clinical domain knowledge of course.

17. Which learning related to SAS® is essential in order to get entry in Clinical trial domain?

Basics SAS®, SAS® Marco, SAS® SQL, SAS® Graphs, clinical domain sessions and some live case studies

18. Are there any criteria for recruitment in terms of percentage score in graduation level?

You do need to have good scores in your graduation, but that’s not the only criteria.

19. Which books should be referred for Clinical SAS® training?

There are no specific books available for Clinical SAS® training. The study material carefully developed by experienced clinical SAS® professionals is the best material to refer.

20. Does taking SAS® training available in market starting from 8,000/- INR to approximate 100,000/- INR makes a difference?

Short answer: YES

How:

  • The institutes who do not have authorized/licensed SAS® copy can offer the course at 8000 to 30 thousand approximate. However it is illegal to have unauthorized copy of SAS®. Moreover one can’t get actual learning experience from such training on unauthorized/ cracked software’s.
  • Placements assurance (Not assured)
  • Trainers (Not highly experienced like programmers)
  • Curriculum (Not covering all required contents in detail with relevant examples)
  • Practice (Limited but unfortunately official license software will not be available to do the same)

21. Is online training available?

Yes CliPLab does have online training facility.

24. Can I go in data management after working for some time as SAS® programmer?

Yes you can shift field. However there are more candidates who shift to SAS® programming after working in CDM, because of the obvious better career growth with SAS® programming field.

27. Has global recession impacted this field and job opportunities?

Luckily clinical/healthcare field is the least affected field in spite of global recession.

28. I am a doctor. How will this course help me?

You will get to work with IT Company if you enter this field, unlike your career as a practitioner.

TCS & I3/Pharmanet. Some companies call candidates to their campus for interviews.

32. What is CDISC?

Clinical data interchange standards consortium.

33. Why do all pharmaceutical companies use only SAS® to generate reports?

USFDA as a regulatory body has got compliance from SAS® reports and moreover SAS® has been approved by USFDA as they accept the format of reports which can be provided by SAS®.

34. Do you have placement cell?

Yes. CliPLab is having separate placement cell consisting of people having professional contacts with prospective employers. Apart from guiding students to get placed, CliPLab also grooms students for effective communication skills and soft skills.
